Named characters with special stats and magic items became a thing in the 4th edition of Warhammer, but at least one of the named characters predated that edition. “Throt the Unclean” was the title of a three-armed Skaven character in the original release of Jes Goodwins Skaven back in 1986.

Over the years, the Skaven have accumulated an unusually memorable cast of warlords, sorcerers, assassins and mad inventors. These are the named characters represented in my collection.

Ikit Klaw – Chief Warlock of Clan Skryre

Ikit Klaw is one of Clan Skryre’s most infamous warlock engineers, combining sorcery, warpstone, and mechanical invention with almost no concern for safety. He is best known for his heavily armored appearance, experimental weapons, and obsession with destructive technology, making him one of the clearest examples of Skryre’s blend of magic and engineering.

Ikit is the inventor responsible for creating the Doomwheels used by Clan Skryre.

Thanquol and Bone-Ripper

Thanquol is one of the Skaven’s most infamous Grey Seers, a scheming sorcerer whose grand plans are matched only by his talent for disaster. Bone-Ripper, his hulking Rat Ogre bodyguard, provides the brute force that Thanquol himself decidedly lacks.

Thanquol has become one of the more recognizable Skaven characters because he has been a recurring character in Bill King’s Felix and Gotrek books.

Throt the Unclean

Throt the Unclean is Clan Moulder’s most notorious master mutator, obsessed with creating ever more grotesque and powerful beasts. Surrounded by Rat Ogres, Giant Rats, and other twisted experiments, he embodies the clan’s brutal mix of breeding, surgery, and warpstone-fueled mutation.

Plaguelord Nurglitch & Lord Skrolk

Plaguelord Nurglitch is one of Clan Pestilens’ most infamous leaders, spreading disease and corruption in the name of the Great Horned Rat. A fanatical plague priest and warlord, he embodies the clan’s obsession with pestilence, decay, and turning sickness itself into a weapon.

Lord Skrolk is one of Clan Pestilens’ most feared plague priests, a fanatical servant of disease and decay. Armed with ancient plague lore and surrounded by pestilent relics, he represents the religious zeal and supernatural corruption at the heart of the clan.

Deathmaster Snikch

Deathmaster Snikch is Clan Eshin’s most feared assassin, a legendary killer sent to eliminate the Skaven’s most dangerous enemies—and sometimes their inconvenient allies. Silent, patient, and deadly with his blades, he represents the very best of Eshin’s shadowy arts.

Queek Headtaker & Skweel Gnawtooth

Queek Headtaker is one of the Skaven’s most infamous warlords, renowned for his ferocity, battlefield prowess, and gruesome collection of trophies. A brutal champion of Clan Mors, he embodies the clan’s unusually disciplined and aggressive approach to warfare.

Skweel Gnawtooth is one of Clan Moulder’s most skilled Packmasters, famous for controlling and breeding some of the clan’s most vicious beasts. Cunning even by Skaven standards, he combines cruelty, animal handling, and battlefield experience to turn mutated creatures into deadly weapons.
