Clan Skryre is where Skaven ingenuity becomes something far more dangerous. Its warlock engineers combine crude machinery, warpstone, alchemy, and reckless experimentation to create weapons that are as likely to explode as they are to work as intended. Doomwheels, warp-lightning cannons, weapon teams, and bizarre mechanical devices all reflect the clan’s belief that no problem cannot be solved with enough power, enough warpstone, and very little concern for safety.

For me, Clan Skryre is one of the most distinctive parts of the Skaven army. The mix of ramshackle engineering, glowing green energy, and barely controlled destruction gives its models a character that is difficult to mistake for anything else in Warhammer. This section brings together the Skryre models in my collection, from warlock engineers and weapon teams to the larger machines that make the clan one of the most dangerous—and unpredictable—forces in the Under-Empire.

Doomwheels

Doomwheels are one of Clan Skryre’s most iconic creations: massive, warpstone-powered wheels packed with machinery, weapons, and very little regard for control. Fast, destructive, and inherently unstable, they perfectly capture the Skaven approach to engineering—if it is dangerous enough, it is probably worth building. These models are from the 7th edition skaven refresh when we saw a lot of plastic kits released. I really like them, so they are included in my mostly metal skaven army.

The models below are the original 4th-edition-era Doomwheel models released in 1994. I remember the excitement when the skaven army-book was released at GenCon that year.

Warp Lightning Cannon

Warp-Lightning Cannons are among Clan Skryre’s most devastating creations, using warpstone-powered machinery to hurl crackling bolts of unnatural energy across the battlefield. Powerful but notoriously unpredictable, they embody the Skaven talent for building weapons that are almost as dangerous to their own crews as they are to the enemy.

I can’t take credit for these models. They were made by someone in the UK and I picked them and I bought them off a used miniatures site. I dig the combination of the old Doomwheels and the original metal warp lightning cannon. They are very reminiscent of the Warmaster Doomwheel model.

Weapons Teams:

Skaven weapon teams and Warplock Jezzails give Clan Skryre its most distinctive battlefield firepower. Weapon teams carry bizarre experimental devices into the heart of the fighting, while Jezzails use long-ranged warpstone-powered rifles to pick off important targets from a distance. Together they capture Skryre perfectly: ingenious, deadly, and never entirely safe for the rats using them. Rats with flamethrowers and sniper rifles were part of what sold me on Skaven from the very beginning.
